Ambassador Program

2025 Ambassador Program

The Prize

Students will participate in the trip of a lifetime. They’ll head to France and Belgium to participate in a First World War battlefield tour, visiting significant sites where the Royal Newfoundland Regiment fought. And they’ll follow the Trail or the Caribou, spending time in the five communities that are home to the bronze caribou monuments. And finally, they’ll spend a day in Bruges as well as Paris, visiting a selection of the city’s historical and cultural landmarks.

The Challenge

Tell us a true story about the First World War.

Not a big, official story about armies and nations, Tell us a small, personal story of how one individual shaped, or was shaped, by the war to end all wars.

The person you choose might be a Newfoundlander …. or not. A soldier or sailor, a civilian … maybe even a spy! Someone who rushed towards danger ….. or refused to take up arms and fight. A fisher or a farmer who stayed at home to feed the nation. Or a refugee forced on a dangerous migration. Tell us their story!

Next we want you to

Tell us why it should be remembered.

You can use any medium you like. Maybe that’s a short video, or an essay, an original song, or a piece of visual art. The sky’s the limit, but remember:Your story must be about one individual. It must be true (so let us know where you found your information) And we want to know why you think their story should be remembered.
